The ngo boat race to take place on November 7 and 8 in Soc Trang

On November 7 and 8, the ngo boat race, one of the special activities of the Ok Om Bok festival, is the largest one in the Mekong Delta, including 56 racing teams.

The Ok Om Bok Festival occurs on October 15 (lunar calendar) and consists of 9 main activities. These activities will take place from November 2-8 in Soc Trang city.

Before the opening ceremony (November 6), a trade fair for regional OCOP products and street food with the theme “Hương vị Sóc Trăng” (the taste of Soc Trang) will begin from November 2.

In addition, the ngo boat race takes place on the Maspéro River, Soc Trang City, from November 7-8. There were 56 racing teams registering to join this exciting boat race until October 18, including 40 teams from Soc Trang, and the rest from Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Tra Vinh, Bac Lieu, and Ca Mau.

Khmer people will release water lamps and conduct rituals to worship the Moon to express gratitude to the Moon and wish for a bountiful harvest at night on November 7.

The organizers said that the Ok Om Bok Festival in Soc Trang has a total budget of more than 7.5 billion VND. Funding is mobilized from relevant units, the organizing board, businesses, and funds for the festival from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
