After a period of stagnation, the international tourism market in Vietnam recorded many positive signals. According to the Southern Airport Authority, Tan Son Nhat Airport recorded the highest number of international tourists on November 20 since the pandemic.
Specifically, Tan Son Nhat airport served over 33,000 passengers/day, reaching 70% compared to about 45,000 passengers/day in the pre-pandemic period of 2019. With the above growth momentum, aviation authorities expect the volume of international tourists to Vietnam in 2023 will fully recover to the pre-pandemic time (2019).
The General Statistics Office reported that in the first 10 months of 2022, Vietnam welcomed more than 2.3 million international tourists. Although this number decreased by 83.7% compared to the same period in 2019, it increased 18.8 times compared to the same period in 2021.
In October, international tourists to Vietnam reached 484,400 arrivals, up 12.1% over the previous month and 45.9 times higher than the same period in 2021.
Thanks to the tourism opening and the restoration of international flights, Vietnam received a positive signal of international arrivals in the past ten months.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism also evaluated Vietnam as one of the destinations with the highest growth rate in the world.
