According to the Arabian Business newspaper, Saudi Arabia is planning to open its third airline.
It is known that this will be the official airline of NEOM, a new city under construction in Tabuk province (Saudi Arabia).
NEOM is an abbreviation of the Greek and Arabic words, meaning “new” and “future”. This city is expected to become a key business, cultural and tourist area in the 21st century of Saudi Arabia. The NEOM urban area has a total area of 26,500 square kilometers, stretches 170 kilometers (km) along the Red Sea coast and has a construction cost of up to 500 billion USD.
As expected, NEOM Bay Airport (NUM) will be the place to receive flights to a number of destinations in the region and around the world via the existing national airline Saudia. According to reports, direct flights to the airports. cities in Europe and Asia will make NEOM a top destination for international visitors.
The new airline will also be funded by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), like RIA, the second flag carrier of Saudi Arabia to be launched in the final months of 2022.
