Qatar Airways is targeting Gen Z customers through its Student Club program for student passengers aged 18 to 30.

The new Student Club program is launched by Qatar Airways with the aim of attracting Gen Z customers and earning their loyalty before they become the main workforce in the future. With the loyalty program specifically curated for students, Qatar Airways hopes to offer savings and benefits in making journeys more cost-efficient and tailored towards the needs of Gen Z students..

All full-time and part-time students between the ages of 18 and 30 are eligible to join the program.

If registering as a Student Club member, student passengers can use countless privileges including special fares on flights, extra baggage allowance, the flexibility to change the dates of their flight, and free high-speed wifi on board.

Once became a Student Club member, the students are also automatically enrolled in the Privilege Club loyalty program, which means they also earn Qmiles when flying with Qatar Airways, with its airline partners or other Oneworld airlines and redeem the offer later (such as award flights, ticket upgrade, extra baggage, Duty Free shopping and promotions at Qatar Airways’ partner hotels).

In addition, Student Club members will also receive a digital card (which can be stored in either their phone’s mobile wallet or Qatar Airways app) indicating their membership tier. Upon completion of education, they also get a tier upgrade as a graduation present, and have the opportunity to earn 5,000 Qmiles if they refer a friend to the Student Club.

According to the airline, the launch of this new customer program is a step towards transforming the existing loyalty program of Qatar Airways Privilege Club, remodeled to help passengers receive the most appropriate privileges and benefits according to their demographics.

“Our brand new Student Club is designed specifically with students’ needs in mind,” said Qatar Airways’ group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker. “Travel is an important part of their life, with many choosing to study abroad for the duration of their university career or for a semester.

“We also know that the long university vacations are a wonderful opportunity for students to visit family or friends or simply to explore the world. Having listened to the needs of our current student passengers, we are delighted to help them to aim for the skies with our Student Club.”
