On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2023 will bring together the mascots that have appeared in the past 20 years.
The perspectives of Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2023 were sketched and introduced to the public. This year, Flower Street celebrates its 20th anniversary of a unique cultural project, which has become a symbol of Ho Chi Minh City every Lunar New Year. With the theme “Ho Chi Minh City – Happy Spring, Prosperous Spring”, Nguyen Hue Flower Street for Tet 2023 is divided into two chapters, including “Happy Spring” and “Prosperous Spring”.
More than 600m long Nguyen Hue Flower Street for Tet 2023 uses many environment-friendly and reusable materials such as metal, foam, rattan, bamboo, brick, fabric, elastic band,… and about 88 kinds of flowers, 18 kinds of leaves, nearly 106,000 pots, flower baskets of all kinds, and more than 300m2 of grass.
The highlight of Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2023 is the change of flower landscape at the Uncle Ho monument area in front of the People’s Committee building. Instead of 36 pots of yellow apricot as usual, this year features 68 yellow apricot trees from Binh Loi village (Binh Chanh district, HCMC). This year’s orchid area, called “Saigon Lifetime,” will bring the warm colors of eight interlocking frames, covering an area of more than 300m2. The dome system is 1.8 – 4m wide, 2.55 – 5.5m high, built in about a month, with the main material being an iron frame woven with elastic bands.
This year is also the first time the glass bridge has appeared on Nguyen Hue Flower Street. The 40-meter-long glass bridge is made of iron, wood, and 3-layer tempered glass and stands 1.8 meters above the ground. This is an ideal place for visitors to see the 300m2 flower bed of the “Brilliant Flower City” scene.
In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to admire all 20 shapes of the eight mascots that have appeared at the Flower Street Gate for two decades. This area is behind the welcome gate of Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2023 on an area of more than 240m2. The mascots include the Monkey, the Rooster, the Dog, the Pig, the Rat, the Ox, the Tiger and the Cat. The mascots in the grand scene “Memory Zone” are shown at 80% similarity compared to the original in the past.
In particular, the event will be open for one more day compared to previous years. Accordingly, Flower Street will serve the spring travel needs of the city’s residents and visitors from 19:00 on January 19 to 21:00 on January 26, 2023.
