Marriott has opened the sixth Asia Pacific property under its affordable lifestyle Moxy Hotels brand, and the first in Taiwan.

Moxy Taichung is located in Taiwan’s second most populous and third largest city, close to attractions including Rainbow Village, Zhongshe Flower Market and Yizhong Street Night Market, and around 24km from Taichung International airport.

Facilities include 262 rooms featuring 55-inch TVs and free wifi, as well as Bar Moxy in the check-in area (where guests receive a complimentary cocktail), rooftop bar XOXO, a 24-hour fitness center and a meeting room. Marriott launched the Moxy brand in 2013, with the first hotel opening in Milan the following year.

The brand currently has around 70 properties across North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific, with recent openings including a Southampton property by the West Quay Shopping Centre near the city’s marina, and Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda.

Commenting on the opening said Jennie Toh, vice president, brand, Asia Pacific, Marriott International, said: “Across the Asia Pacific region and the world, the strong growth of our playful Moxy brand is proof that its brand philosophy resonates with millennial and next-gen guests, who seek a hotel stay at an affordable price point, saving on space and splurging on experiences.

“We are excited to be bringing the Moxy brand to Taiwan with the opening of Moxy Taichung, and to welcome travelers to the Moxy experience in this dynamic, future-forward city.”
