Incheon International Airport became Asia’s busiest international airport in 2020, surpasses Hong Kong and Singapore.
Due to Covid-19, Hong Kong Airport, Singapore Changi Airport and Seoul Incheon Airport handled drastically fewer passengers in 2020 and changed their ranking in terms of passenger numbers.
Hong Kong Airport handled 8.84 million passengers and 160,655 flights in 2020, which decreased 88% and 61.7% compared to 2019 respectively. That made Hong Kong Airport fell down to the third spot. Singapore Changi Airport handled 11.8 million passengers and 125,000 flights last year and came in second place.
Meanwhile, thanks to domestic routes, Incheon International Airport handled 11.96 million passengers and 149,000 aircraft movements, which declined 83.1% and 62.3% compared to the previous year respectively.
