Reuters said that Hong Kong lifted the isolation policy at the hotel to quarantine COVID-19 with all arrivals, starting from September 26.

This decision received many positive responses from people and businesses after more than 2.5 years of application with a lot of controversies.

According to the Hong Kong government, all international visitors don’t have to hotel quarantine after entering the city. They can return home or go to other accommodation, but they must self-monitor their health for three days.

In addition, passengers do not need to show PCR test results within 48 hours before the flight but need to take the Rapid Diagnostic Test. Meanwhile, from September 26, the government allowed Hong Kong people to go to work or school but not to enter bars or restaurants.

John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said at a press conference, “We are aiming for the solution allowing citizens to live, move and trade more conveniently.”

Previously, this special zone followed China’s zero-Covid policy, so it still implemented many strict and expensive quarantine requirements for international tourists. Many residents and businesses thought those regulations would affect the city’s competitiveness in tourism and economy.
