The Hanoi administration has started disassembling cruise ships and floating eateries near West Lake to bring them back to their former glory.

As a result, the cruise ships that were docked near Dam Bay in Nhat Tan ward were dismantled by cranes and barricades sent by the Tay Ho district government. It is known that in this area there are still 7 abandoned cruise ships in serious deterioration.

Chairman of Tay Ho District People’s Committee – Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khuyen said that 4 cruise ships, 4 large floating houses and all small boats, motorboats and rowing boats on West Lake will be completely dismantled from now until the end of 2022.

West Lake, which is regarded as Hanoi’s largest freshwater reservoir, used to be a location with many cruise ships, floating restaurants, and other facilities. However, due to poor environmental conditions as well as concerns about fire and explosion prevention, the Hanoi People’s Committee decided to close a tourist pier and stop operating boat services here in 2016.

For many years, these cruise ships and floating houses have been abandoned and seriously degraded, affecting the beauty and environment around this area. Hopefully, with this renovation, the West Lake area will quickly be improved and soon return to its original appearance.
