Famous people will become godparents to officially name the newest Princess Cruises ship – Discovery Princess.
Accordingly, fashion designer Randy Fenoli, chef Alex Guarnaschelli, special effects designer and producer Adam Savage, and real estate broker and assistant website operator Page Turner attended the maritime naming ceremony tradition at the Port of Los Angeles on April 29.
For the past 7 years, Princess has offered an exclusive program called Discovery at SEA with the aim of bringing a spirit of curiosity and discovery to every journey through experiences like Shark Week at Sea, exclusive shore excursions and onboard activities such as the Youth Discovery Camp and Stargazing at SEA.
Princess Cruises President John Padgett said: “We brought together these four experts and personalities to name our newest ship, Discovery Princess. They are our impressive godparents who represent food, style, adventure, and discovery, bringing their creative and inspirational talents together to celebrate the big occasion. We look forward to exploring what we can all do together in the future.”
Discovery Princess has expanded the cruise line’s MedallionClass fleet to 15 ships, offering elegantly furnished accommodations, world-class entertainment, gourmet cuisine and cocktails. Guests will experience spacious outdoor dining areas and sweeping views from the largest balcony on the sea.
The 3,660-seat Discovery Princess was built at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy and is the company’s sixth Royal-Class ship. Other sister ships include Enchanted Princess, Sky Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess and Royal Princes.
As part of a flagship cruise line on the West Coast, Discovery Princess launched in Los Angeles on March 27. The ship made a series of voyages on the Mexican Riviera and the California Coast from March 27 to April 24. After the naming ceremony in Los Angeles, the ship will sail up the Pacific coast to begin a seven-day Alaska cruise from Seattle. This makes the Discovery Princess the newest ship to sail in the Alaskan region.
With a range of innovative new experiences, guests will enjoy sweeping 270-degree views from Princess’s largest sea balcony in the Sky Suites, relax in ultimate comfort at The Sanctuary and Enjoy world class cuisine. Plus, live entertainment Princess offers Broadway-style productions at the state-of-the-art Princess Theatre, including the newest show, Spotlight Bar.
In addition, Discovery Princess offers Princess MedallionClass holidays that start with a Medallion locator. This is a device that allows users to locate loved ones anywhere on the train, as well as advanced services such as delivering essential items to passengers wherever they are on the train. Plus, guests can share their favorite moments on board using MedallionNet, the best Wi-Fi at sea. At the same time, people can also stay in touch with friends and family back home, work remotely right on board…
Discovery Princess also offers signature Princess locations and amenities, including Piazza, Lotus Spa, The Sanctuary, Movies Under the Stars, Gigi’s Pizzeria, Good Spirits at Sea Bar, Vegas-Style Casino, The Shops of Princess, Camp Discovery Youth & Teen Center, and Discovery programs at SEA.
