The digital health verification of Covid-19 medical records created by Emirates and the Dubai Health Authority enables UAE-based passengers to store their testing and vaccination information for easier and more convenient check-in procedures.
Emirates and Dubai Health Authority (DHA) have started rolling out a digital health verification method for travelers in the UAE since their signing of the Memorandum of Understanding about 2 months ago.
Emirates airline passengers that have already undergone PCR testing in Dubai can choose to check-in without presenting their physical Covid-19 PCR test report.
In addition to information on test results, this digital health record also helps passengers have their vaccination information at DHA’s health center in Dubai quickly synchronized during flight check-in.
With this new streamlined verification procedures, Emirates is able to offer its passengers departing from Dubai International Airport fast and effective check-in and security checks. At the same time, Dubai will also become one of the first destinations in the world to implement a full verification of traveler medical records related to Covid-19 testing and vaccination.
According to Emirates, the airline only processes information related to the entry requirements requested by the passenger’s destination and guarantees to delete all information on the passenger’s health record from all Emirates systems after completing the necessary procedures.
Adel Al Redha, chief operating officer for Emirates Airline, said: “The UAE government has been very supportive and is one of the leading countries in the use of technology and digital applications. This initiative is in line with the government’s vision and we are delighted to take this step within the aviation sector to cooperate with DHA in linking our systems together to enhance the customer experience by processing the relevant documents in a more efficient, secure and effective manner. Our partnership with the Dubai Health Authority in managing passenger travel is unique and is the first step towards other initiatives that will be launched in the near future.”
