June saw the highest monthly figure in the first 6 months of 2022 with 12.2 million domestic visitors.
According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the number of domestic tourists in the first half of 2022 totaled 60.8 million, 1.4 times the pre-pandemic figure and surpassed the full-year target of 60 million.
Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City is currently leading the country with 11 million visitors, reaching 86% compared to the time before the pandemic in 2019. Next is Hanoi (8.61 million) and Ba Ria-Vung Tau. (6.98 million). However, tourism revenue only reached VND 655 trillion, accounting for 66% of the year’s target.
Data from Google Destination Insights shows that travel demand has shown signs of increasing in recent months. Specifically, the number of searches related to domestic flights and accommodation increased by 500% year-on-year in June.
The 10 most searched tourist destinations are Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc Island, Hanoi, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Vung Tau, Quy Nhon, Hue and Phan Thiet.
