American Airlines to introduce VeriFLY mobile app as a health passport for international travelers who want to fly to the US.
This move comes after an announcement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that required all international travelers to take Covid-19 tests and prove negative results before flying to the US.
The VeriFLY app allows travelers to upload their negative Covid-19 test results and other completed documents required to fly to the US. It will be available for all international travelers starting 23 January. The app is developed and managed by the biometric authentication and identity assurance solutions provider, Daon. Daon will verify that the customer’s data matches a country’s travel requirements.
Julie Rath, Vice President of Customer Experience at American Airlines said: “We’re expanding our work with VeriFLY to quickly evolve our usage of the app and make international travel easier for our customers. We support the implementation of a global program to require COVID-19 testing for travelers to the United States, and we want to do everything we can to make travel a seamless experience for customers. We’ve received positive feedback about the app so far and look forward to more customers having the opportunity to use it.”
American Airlines customers have used the app to travel from the US to several countries including Jamaica, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
