Airbnb introduces 3 new updates

Airbnb has just announced some new updates to the platform that are billed as “the biggest change to Airbnb in a decade”.

Airbnb’s 3 biggest updates include:

Airbnb Categories

Most travelers can only think of a few dozen cities to type into the search box, but there are Airbnbs in 100,000 towns and cities around the world. Therefore, Airbnb Categories will make it easy for travelers to discover millions of homes they never knew existed. Up to 56 categories help organize homes based on their style, location, or proximity to a travel activity. Search results are organized by categories that are relevant to that destination. As travelers view different categories, the map intelligently zooms to show the locations of homes.

Helping travelers discover unique homes that they never knew existed can help alleviate over-tourism by redistributing travel to new locations.

Split Stays

Split Stays allows long-term travelers to split their trip between two homes. When searching for a specific destination, Split Stays automatically appears in search results and in 14 categories to inspire travelers to stay in two destinations as part of a longer trip. When viewing Split Stays on a map, an animated line visually connects two homes and shows the distance between the two and the sequence of the stays. Travelers will be guided to book each stay, one home at a time.

AirCover for guests

This is a comprehensive protection for travelers when they stay on Airbnb. Airbnb will find them a similar or better home than the one they booked, or refund them when they get into trouble with the host. Airbnb also offers a 24-hour Safety Line in 16 languages to assist travelers when they feel unsafe.
